Founded in 2001 as the retail investment arm of Cadiz Specialised Asset Management, Cadiz Investment Products Solutions aims to capitalise on the extensive skills base, track-record and market presence of Cadiz in the wholesale fund management market. The focus has been mainly on offshore investment opportunities, providing investors with hard currency guarantees, equity exposure and path-dependent performance.
Innovation
Innovation has been a hallmark of Cadiz Investment Products Solutions from day one, being the first company to offer South African retail investors a hard currency capital guarantee together with meaningful hard currency equity participation. Cadiz Investment Products has continued to be at the forefront of product innovation and industry 'firsts' include
- allocating investors a unique exchange rate at the time of their investment, rather than determining a single exchange rate for the entire tranche;
- providing investors with interim liquidity;
- developing path-dependent products
- allowing financial advisors the choice of being paid upfront or ongoing fees.
Future prospects
With the launch of the Cadiz Absolute Return Series, retail investors now have access to funds managed by Cadiz Specialised Asset Management. The Step Fund has a 7 year track record of CPI plus 6.5%. The Sapphire Fund, which has been operational for over a year, enjoyed returns of 24.3% in its inaugural year. The Cash Fund makes up the final fund in the initial Series - this fund has a very similar performance to its benchmark, the STFI index. The intention is to add more funds with time.
Cadiz has also launched its high-yielding annuity series with capital guarantee, named the Cadiz Guaranteed Income Series. Investors are able to select from a range of income options according to their preferences and market expectations. Please refer to Product Overview for further details.
